ArtClix makes learning about art simple: visitors use their phone to capture a piece, unlock details about it, and participate in an art-centric community conversation. In addition to bringing the app to current mobile platforms, we added video capabilities, enabling curators to upload a greater diversity of media—including artist interviews—to educate users about featured artworks.
A new and improved comments section offers users fun opportunities to connect with the museum’s content. We created the first ever museum-commissioned emojis—called Highmojis, of course—allowing guests to express their reactions to the artwork quickly and intuitively. They can share these responses on social media, discover how their thoughts compare with others’, and see which pieces are generating buzz. Posing in front of a favorite piece, they can also take an #ArtSelfie and easily export it to popular social media apps.
The updated ArtClix was unveiled at the 2015 AAM Annual Meeting and MuseumExpo Opening Night Party. To complement the launch, we also produced an eye-catching art installation incorporating the new app.
